PTA Reflections Contest Winners
Three students from Central Park School won in the City-Level PTA Reflections Contest in the Music Composition category. Congratulations to V. Lewis (1st Place), A. Effinger (2nd Place), and A. McGhee (3rd Place). They attended a banquet on February 26, 2011. A. Effinger was also a 2nd Place Winner at the State-Level PTA contest!! The music selections are posted on www.musictechteacher.com.
Christmas Program
The annual Christmas Music Program was held on Dec. 13, 2011. Ms. Minnifield's grade-level choirs sang, along with performances by Ms. Garrett's Music Tech Ensemble and Ms. Smith's Fourth Grade Class. Follow this link to see the pictures.
Career Awareness Program
Central Park School students learned about various careers on October 20, 2011. They received a visit from members of the Birmingham Police Department and Tactical Unit, the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Department, a Train Engineer, a Nurse, an Artist, and others. Breast Cancer Awareness Month
On Oct. 14, 2011, faculty and students recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Central Park School by

Haircuts for Young Men
Thank you to Mr. George Thigpen, owner of Perfect Kuts Barber and Style Shop, for sponsoring the young men (students) at Central Park School with free haircuts on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011. Follow this link to see the pictures.
Gotcha Rewards Program
How many Gotcha cards have you received today? Students who are responsible, respectful and resourceful can receive cards during the month of October to purchase items in the Gotcha Store at the end of the month. Kindergarten Career Day
Students in the Kindergarten Classes at Central Park School have been studying careers and information about community helpers. On September 30, 2011, they dressed up in uniforms about the careers they studied. Follow this link to see the pictures.
PTA Meeting
The PTA had a meeting on Sept. 15, 2011 in the Lunchroom. Dr. Davis discussed the Title I Parent Survey and Information, Mr. and Mrs. Phelps gave information about the new fundraiser and Ms. Garrett presented the school faculty and staff video. Parent Forum
A Parent Forum was held on August 18, 2011. Student safety and procedures for arrival and dismissal were discussed and a vote was taken on the best methods for implementing new policies.
